A fantastic concert given by the Jazz Ensemble of the Grammar School at Leeds. The school has a long tradition of musical excellence, the performance is at 14h30 on Friday 11th July at Residentie Sint Vincentius, Leuven. Free Entry.
Music is a vital part of the life of Grammar School at Leeds. On a six day tour to Belgium, talented young musicians will present a varied programme of classical, pop, jazz and folk music.
Conducted by Pippa Sidwell and Sarah MacKenzie and Adrian Knowles, 60 young people will perform as a jazz ensemble, choir and folk group.
Rooted in 1950s Jazz, repertoire includes 'The Preacher' (Horace Silver) and 'Mercy, Mercy, Mercy (Cannonball Adderley), as well Grazin' the Grass (Hugh Masekela) and from the folk group you can expect to hear traditional tunes such as 'Wild Mountain Thyme', 'She Moved Through the Fair' and Kate Rusby's 'Who Will Sing Me Lullabies?'
Our school motto is 'Be Inspired' and we hope you are by our performance!
